Watch making

Sometimes one has to actually do some "making." This is a wrist watch winding and setting stem I made.

A sweet elder and still a strong runner.

I had some vintage bracelet cord and findings to put the finishing touches on this job.

It all comes apart

Just because it has run for years without service doesn't mean it isn't in need of an oil change.

Welcome!

My name is Ian and I am formally trained, under my father as an apprentice and later, more technically, through a three year program under Joseph Rugole in Toronto Canada.

I was retired for a couple of years and then I moved to Western Manitoba where I found some interesting jobs coming my way. So, I made myself a little shop here and am pleased to be of service again to those that have that special something they’d like looked at.

I hope what you find here creates a space to be an informed consumer, collector, or to increase your curiosity about the world of horology. 

I tell stories here. Wee ones at least. I have a large archive of images to describe my work and I’ll be introducing those that showcase some examples of what I celebrate and some of the things I don’t.

A call to action

Some of these machines have run year in and year out for decades without service. The mechanical watches and clocks have an interesting history and are some of the most refined mechanical engineering we have. I'll tell some stories. I'm looking forward to hearing from you, the curious travelers. Of course I provide full service for digital watches as well. They just as as much fun. 🙂
